Metanoia: When will you “change your mind”?!
Today you’re going to get a little Greek lesson. The word of the day: metanoia.
Metanoia is the word used in Scripture to refer to “repentance.” It could be considered a compound word, meta— “after/to put behind” and noeo “thinking/perceiving.” If you are putting something behind your mind you are literally changing your mind which is the literal term then for repentance. Often repentance is translated as a “turning aside from” or “turning around.” How about turning your mind?
Turning your mind around, changing your ways, changing your mind about how you do things, how you have grown accustomed to believing things that may or may not actually be in line with God’s Word.
2 Chronicles 7:14 “if My people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
1) The Lord God of Israel says we are called by His Name (that’s just such a beautiful thought — you are ______, Child of God)
2) He wants us to humble ourselves (Basically, admit that He is God, that we are not-God, and that without Him we are absolutely nothing)
3) Pray (Have a conversation with Him, He is your Father and He loves you and wants you to communicate with Him)
4) Seek His face (The believer has the privilege of seeking the face of the Lord. Ask Him to allow you into that holy place where His presence dwells)
5) Turn from their wicked ways. (Here we go—- turning. Change your mind. Don’t do the same thing you’ve been doing 20 years. It is time for a change. Determine in your heart that you are going to follow Him and be obedient to Him like never before. Determine that you are changing your mind for the better. Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
6) Here comes the promise. God says He will hear from heaven. You are just one person in the world, yet God will hear you, your individual voice .
7) He will forgive your sins, and will heal your land — (heal your body, heal your family, heal your broken heart, heal your territory all that which is around you, HE WILL HEAL YOU from whatever infirmity you have. Away, cancer. Away, drug addiction. Away, sadness. Speak to those demons with authority, out, away with you filthy spirit in JESUS NAME, you are HEALED. Let your pastors pray for you. Pray with your family. TRUST AND BELIEVE. He WILL HEAL you because He died for your healing and the promises are fulfilled and true — see Isaiah 53.
Accept Him into your heart, my brother, my sister. Change your mind today. Maybe you’ve been skeptical and doubtful, too proud to admit that it is time for a change.
Change your mind by first changing your heart, pray: and He will hear you from heaven. Accept Jesus Christ as your only Lord and Savior and you, too, will be saved.
