Hope for the Hopeless, Friend to the Friendless, Light in the Darkness

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.” Psalm 50:15

Do you ever feel like you’ve been forgotten? Maybe you feel trapped in a world that seems to revolve around everybody and everything else but you? Maybe you’re the type who has never gotten a lot of attention. Or, maybe you used to be in the limelight and something happened that got you tossed out overnight, replaced by someone younger, newer, wiser, thinner, or maybe not even “better” than you by these shallow worldly standards.I betcha actors feel this way a lot. They perform in their blockbuster films and then 30 years later a whole lot less people care about who they are or what they are doing and despite media attention, they probably feel awfully alone. Unless, of course, they realize that

1) We’re never alone (God is with us) and

2) We’re never forgotten (God knows us by name).

The world really shouldn’t revolve around you, but it is nice to know that there are people in the world who care about you and to whom it matters that you are alive. If you are out there reading this right now and you’re feeling alone – we at Raveh care about you. We may have never met you (yet!) but we know that you were made by the same Creator God who made us, therefore if you’re important enough for Him to have made you, you’re important enough to keep living.

Everything should revolve around the Lord God. He will never forget you even if you feel like no one wants to take care of you or love you. Maybe you feel like every time you call someone they have an excuse why they don’t want to talk to you. Do you realize that God always wants to hear from you? He has never forgotten you and He loves you! Even if your own mom and dad have abandoned you or told you they don’t want you (and wow I hope that never happens to you) if that ever happens – remember, that in Psalm 27 verse 10 that God’s Word says that even if your father and mother forsake you, He Himself — the Lord God Almighty, King of all Kings, and Lord of all Lords will never forget you. If you give your heart to Jesus, you belong to Him and your Father in Heaven will constantly look after you, provide for your every need, and make sure that you feel loved and included.

Get off of the drugs, man. You shootin’ up and destroying your body — which is a temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) — isn’t going to bring you any amount of happiness. There is help for addiction — it is in Jesus Christ, your Liberator, your Deliverer. He can set you free of your addictions. Same with drinking or pornography or whatever other evil thing has got you bound and trapped. God wants to set you free in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

A year or two ago, Israel Houghton released a new song he wrote about not being forgotten. It goes like this: “I am not forgotten….God knows my name; He knows my name. Light over darkness, strength over weakness, joy over sadness, He knows my name. Father to the fatherless, friend to the friendless…I am not forgotten.” Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to you that the words are true, that God honestly wants for you to be in relationship with Him, He wants to hear your cry for help and He will answer you in your day of trouble and rescue you.

God is indeed Hope for the Hopeless and Light in the Darkness. Allow His river of healing to wash over you. Won’t you ask Him to help you today? Maybe you used to know God and you turned away. Well, God has not turned His back on you and He will not turn His back on you. Maybe you’ve forgotten God or said horrible things about God. You can be forgiven. The slate can be totally wiped clean.

The Word of God in James 1:6 instructs us to ask in faith without any doubting, so right now you have the opportunity to ask in faith for salvation. He will give it to you if you ask. So, pray in your own words:

Father, I am hopeless the way I am, but I know You have the power to change me. I accept Your Love for me. I accept Jesus Christ as my only Lord and Savior, and I give You my heart. Make me whole again, make me new, forgive me of my sins. I renounce the stronghold of evil in my life and before You, O God, I pledge to change my ways with Your help. Give me strength, heal my body and my mind. Lord, fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

If you have prayed this prayer with sincerity before the Lord, you are saved. We rejoice with you, my sister or my brother. Let us know, would you, so we can pray with you? In order to continue on a faithful path free of all addictions and sorrows and sadness and fear, you should find a church that teaches the Bible and that believes in the Holy Spirit infilling. Give thanks to God because now you are saved!
