There are a lot of people who say, “gee, thanks for the invite to church, but you know….church just isn’t for me.”
So they don’t go and they get to sleep in on Sunday mornings.
Church isn’t for me, either. It isn’t about me at all. That’s why we get up early on Sundays and go worship…..not ourselves. Worship the God who created you.
Church is for the exaltation and honor of JESUS. It isn’t for your glory or my glory. It isn’t about you at all. It is all about Him.
When we put ourselves first, we will naturally say church isn’t for me and therefore I’m not going.
Are there problems in organized churches? Sure. At times. But that’s because they are run by human beings who have errors.
Are there problems in your family? Sure. There are times you don’t get along with everybody. Does that mean you shouldn’t be part of your family? Does it mean you should say that because family isn’t all about you that it is instead about every single member of the family that you shouldn’t be part of your family? Of course not.
There may be problems in a church family. Maybe you were abused spiritually by controlling leaders who had good intentions, but who deviated from the truth of the Bible.
Don’t allow a bad experience with “church” prevent you from congregating with a faithful group of believers.
We know that a lot of people have been hurt by the church or what the world calls “organized religion.”
Get rid of “religion.” You need to know Jesus, not a list of rituals or a staid routine of requirements.
You need a real relationship with a Living God who is God of Israel and who deeply yearns to be Lord of your Life so that you can live in freedom and in joy.
Jesus is waiting for you. Sure, you don’t “need” church in order to be saved, but it sure does help to meet up with other believers and be accountable for your faith. You do need Jesus. You can’t make it without Him.
You are lost without Jesus. Won’t you give our church a chance? We want to hear your story, listen to you, and help you grow in your faith, a real faith that will not make you feel oppressed or trapped in a religion. We are Christian, and that means we follow Christ, not a pope or another charismatic leader. We follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, who can fill you so that you will know that He is guiding you and you will be able to discern that which is truthful and good and healthy for your life and that which is false. Jesus is the Truth. Jesus will help you.
