So, we went evangelizing today, as we typically do on Saturday afternoons.
It is a thrilling thing to be able to fulfill the Great Commission and reach lost souls for Christ.
Every now and then, someone will say something that you remember. A fellow today was not all that interested in talking to us, and when time came to ask him whether or not he had ever accepted Jesus Christ into his heart as his Lord and Savior, he said,
“Oh, I’ve been there, and done that.” He went on to say that he wasn’t at all interested in any type of Bible Study.
Maybe the guy has accepted Jesus in the past and hopefully by God’s grace he’s still saved…. but his curt response would leave one wondering….
and what’s with that all-too-pervasive kind of attitude toward Bible study by a person who claims to have accepted Christ?
Christians – if we are not interested in learning about God’s Word, we better check on the status of our salvation. A minor relationship with God really isn’t a relationship at all. If your husband came home and said that he was only going to pay attention to you when its convenient and when it doesn’t require any responsibility, what would be the wife’s response? Clearly, a relationship requires commitment, devotion, and passion.
Not interested in Bible Study – that’s ok for someone who doesn’t know Jesus. But, I strongly warn anybody who says they know Jesus and then turns around and doesn’t want anything to do with Him or His people to get yourself back on your knees and tell God,
“I’ve been there and done that, Lord, but in the meantime, I’ve been here and I’ve been there…without You governing my life. I’ve been there, and done that, Lord, but all over again, Jesus, I need you.”
Revelation 3 talks about the disgrace it is to be a lukewarm Christian. You can’t be in the middle.
You’re either for Jesus
or against Him.
Who have you been? A faithful follower or a betrayer?
Where have you been? With the cool crowd or with the hardworking servants of God?
What have you done? Have you turned your life around and given it 100% to Jesus?
We won’t even ask who you’ve done. Believe me, God knows and it is time to repent.
Been there, done that? Jesus has been there for you. And He did enough for you—- He died for you.
And even though Jesus has been there when you’ve turned your back on Him, He still allowed the crucifixion to be done.
All so that you could live.
In freedom and in fullness of joy.
Change your life. You only have one chance, get it in before its too late.
